Interview with Carlton Houston and Pierre St. Clair about their new book: The Little Black Book Exposed – Inside the Minds of Men. Interviewer: Hi, for those of you just tuning in, today we are pleased to have authors Carlton Houston and Pierre St. Clair here with us today. Ladies, the title of their book is The Little Black Book Exposed – Inside the mind of men – Sex, Lies and Relationships. So guys, welcome to the show. Authors (in blue) Thanks for having us. Interviewer: So guys, The Little Black Book Exposed. My producers actually gave me a copy last week and I read it in one night and I was blown away. So in your own words, tell my listeners what the little black book exposed is about? The Little Black Book Exposed is the cheat sheet for finding, keeping and understanding a man. It’s the book that gives women insight into the minds of men and it helps her understand how a man thinks and most important why we think the way we do. The subject matters varies from: why men really cheat, how men feel about dating women with kids, what do men really like and want from women and much, much more. Interviewer: Q: What was the inspiration for the book (series)? The inspiration for the book came from us realizing women don’t understand men. And from women not understanding us they tend to make a lot of mistakes with us. Like women say all the time that men are dogs. We feel that men get a bad wrap a lot of times because women fail to understand the role they play in making us do what we do. Interviewer: Q: What makes this book different from other books about men and women relationships? The variety of people interviewed. No one person is filling you up with their views. We aren’t representing men we are letting them speak for themselves – these are every day guys – the good and the bad. Everyone had total freedom of speech. Even we were shocked by some of the responses. I mean some of these things were things a guy would never tell his lady in a million years. Interviewer: Q: So to my understanding, the majority of questions asked to the guys in this book were submitted by women correct? That’s correct. Women played a key role in which topics we covered. We wanted to answer some of the burning questions that women have out there. Interviewer: Q: With so much information here, I have to ask how long did it take you to compile all of this information? Over a year actually. But it was fun but also very time consuming. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. To bring a project like this of this size and magnitude is great! Interviewer: Q: While reading the book, I found myself laughing sometimes and at other times, I was saying – I can’t believe men are thinking like that. Some of the stories were moving. How did you guys decide which stories and comments would make it into the book? The main thing is we just wanted to show women how men really think about certain things but at the same time we wanted to show how men are really diverse in our perspectives. But then there were some topics that the guys came together on. This is really what makes this book so hot and real. It’s totally socially valuable and current with today’s times. Interviewer: Q: I have to say one of the things I really enjoyed about this book was the behind the scenes looks and comments from the authors and the whole style. I found that very interesting. How did that come about? We just wanted to make this a very hot book that was different, even in the way that we covered it with our perspective in some cases. In reality, it wasn’t planned it just came together like that. That’s actually what we love the most about the book. The book is very extensive and interesting on all levels in our opinion! IInterviewer: Q: I mean you guys were getting smart with some of the men you interviewed and everything. I felt like I was right there in the midst of things with you guys. Was that your goal? Definitely! We really wanted to capture all of the energy of the interviews. This is a book where anything goes. For instance, one guy we interviewed we even described how he acted when we approached him with a particular question. He had so much to say, he sat his pizza down abruptly to talk. We could tell this guy wanted to get something off his chest. I think readers will find this book different from any question and answer book they’ve ever read. Before the book came out, we were telling some of our female friends about some of the stories and situations in the book and they were like, “Oh my gosh, what did he do, what did she say, what happened?” I mean the book is deep like that. It’s an experience! We’re very excited about that! Unfortunately, a lot of guys aren’t too trilled about the book because they feel we are giving all of the secrets away. Interviewer: Q: The book was entertaining but also very much enlightening. What was your goal or message that you want to get out to women? Our main goal was to look at the root causes behind why men do the things we do. For every occurrence there is a cause so we looked at things like, if a woman is not guy’s type, what did the woman do to make it that way. We wanted women to gain a new and more realistic understanding of men. We believe that if women were armed with better information and the do’s and don’ts of dating that more healthy relationships could be formed in the world without so many of the games that we’re all guilty of. I mean there are lots of women making big mistakes out there. You have so many people telling women that their prince charming is right around the corner and in reality – is he really? How can these people say that without knowing what the woman in question might be doing wrong to push a good man away? We go into everything in the book. I’m sure some women will get mad about some of the things we go into but hey, this is how guys feel about things and we have to present it or we would be like all the other serial sugarcoaters out there. We also go in-depth about things women do in long-term relationships that aren’t conducive to the relationship and more. I mean this book will help women no matter what their social status is - married, single and dating or whatever. There is a lot here for everybody. Trust us on that! Interviewer: Q: The book is very raw and edgy. Why was it important for you guys to release this book without censorship? We wanted a realistic view of how men think. We weren’t interested in sugarcoating any of the responses or making them politically correct. Exactly how the guys told us their stories is the exact way we printed it. Guys were told they could say whatever they wanted on a topic without holding anything back including profanity. We just wanted their true honestly. With that being said, we didn’t leave anything out which is why we have the warning label on the book. This is what makes this book so special. For the women who always have wanted to know what men talk about in private? This is the book! This is your invincible pass into the men’s locker room to listen freely! Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
